Taipei 6-Day Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Taipei 101
- Arrive at Taoyuan International Airport. Take the MRT (Metro) to Taipei Main Station (Transportation tip: The EasyCard is a rechargeable smart card for public transportation in Taiwan).
- Check-in at your hotel, ideally located near City Hall MRT Station for easy access to attractions (Recommendation: W Taipei or Grand Hyatt Taipei)
- Visit Taipei 101 and explore its observatory. Don’t forget to try the famous Starbucks on the ground floor!
- For dinner, head to Raohe Night Market for local street food (Things to know: Bartering is common in night markets)
Day 2: Temple & Food Tour
- Start your day at Longshan Temple, one of Taipei’s most famous temples.
- Embark on a food tour to explore local specialties like stinky tofu, bubble tea, and xiaolongbao (Recommendation: Eatwist Food Tour)
- Spend the afternoon at Daan Forest Park for relaxation and people watching
- For dinner, try authentic Taiwanese cuisine at Din Tai Fung or Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle.
Day 3: Yangmingshan & Beitou
- Take a cable car up to Yangmingshan National Park. Enjoy hot springs in Beitou (Transportation tip: Combined tickets are available for the shuttle bus, cable car, and Beitou Hot Spring Museum)
- Visit Qingtiangong Temple in Beitou and take a stroll around the scenic area
- For lunch, dine at one of the hot spring restaurants in Beitou (Recommendation: Yen Ji Restaurant)
Day 4: Tamsui & Yehliu Geopark
- Take the MRT Red Line to Tamsui District. Explore Fort San Domingo, Little White House, and Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf
- In the afternoon, visit Yehliu Geopark to see the famous “Jewel of the North Coast,” the hoodoo rock formation (Transportation tip: Combined bus tickets are available at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf)
- Return to Taipei for dinner. Try seafood at Dazzling Cafe in Tamsui or head back to the city for more night market food
Day 5: Ximending & Museums
- Spend the day exploring Ximending, a lively shopping district known as Taipei’s Harajuku. Try a shaved ice dessert at Mille Feuille Ice Cream
- Visit National Palace Museum or National Taiwan Museum to learn about Taiwanese history and culture
- For dinner, try vegetarian cuisine at Aloha Backyard or Japanese food at Ichiran Ramen
Day 6: Departure
- Spend your last day shopping for souvenirs in Taipei Main Station area or Shilin Night Market. Remember to haggle!
- Head back to the airport for your departure flight (Transportation tip: Use the MRT to avoid traffic)
