Day 1: Arrival in Shizuoka City & Exploring the Downtown Area
- Morning: Arrive at Shizuoka Station. Check-in at your hotel (Recommendation: Shizuoka Grand Hotel or Hotel New Otani Shizuoka).
- Afternoon: Visit the Shizuoka Sengen Shrine, one of the most important shrines in Shizuoka. Explore the beautiful Aoi Naka (Green District), the historical heart of the city.
- Evening: Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant serving Ise-ebi, a delicious Japanese lobster that Shizuoka is famous for. Try Hiroshima Ramen if you prefer something different.
- Things to Know: Shizuoka is famous for its green tea, especially the Fujieda Matcha. Don’t forget to try some!
Day 2: Exploring Mount Fuji & Surrounding Areas
- Morning: Take a train or bus to Fujikawa-Oyama Station. Start your hike up Mount Fuji from the 5th station (2,300m), if you’re up for a challenge! Alternatively, take a bus to Fujiyoshida Sengen-Chaisha and visit the famous Five Lakes of Fuji.
- Afternoon: Visit the Oshino Hakkai (eight springs), a beautiful spot near Mount Fuji with eight natural springs, said to have been created by melting snow from Mount Fuji.
- Evening: Return to Shizuoka City and enjoy dinner at Kaiten Zushi Shiroha, a popular revolving sushi restaurant.
Day 3: Visiting Hamamatsu & the Samurai City of Sunpu
- Morning: Take a train to Hamamatsu Station. Visit the Hamamatsu Castle and explore the city’s vibrant music instrument industry.
- Afternoon: Head to Sunpu Castle in the city of Shizuoka. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park and offers a great view of the city.
- Evening: Dinner at Ichiran Ramen or Mihonpu, both famous ramen chains from Shizuoka.
Day 4: Exploring the Izu Peninsula
- Morning: Take a train to Ito Station and start exploring the beautiful Izu Peninsula. Visit the scenic Jogasaki Coast and the Amagi Sightseeing Boat for a view of the beautiful coastline from the sea.
- Afternoon: Relax at one of the many onsen (hot springs) in the area, such as Shimoda Onsen or Izu Hedo no Yu
- Evening: Dinner at a local seafood restaurant in Ito or Shimoda.
Day 5: Return to Tokyo
- Morning: Take the shinkansen (bullet train) back to Tokyo from Shizuoka Station. Depending on your departure time, you might have a chance to explore more of Shizuoka City before leaving!
