São Tomé & Príncipe 6-Day Travel Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in São Tomé City

  • Arrive at São Tomé International Airport. Be aware of the tropical climate, so pack light and breathable clothing.

  • Visit the São Tomé City Centre. Explore the charming town, visit the Forte de São Sebastião and the cathedral. Don’t miss out on trying local delicacies like cocoa and palm wine.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant. Try dishes such as fish stew (grato) or steamed crab (crabezuda).

Day 2: São Tomé City - Obo Natural Reserve

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Prepare for a day trip to Obo Natural Reserve.
  • Travel to Obo Natural Reserve (approximately 1 hour drive from São Tomé City).
  • Explore Obo Natural Reserve. Hike through the dense rainforest, observe various primates like the São Tomé monkey and bird species endemic to the region.
  • Lunch in a nearby village. Enjoy traditional dishes cooked by local families.
  • Return to São Tomé City and relax at your hotel or explore more of the city.

Day 3: São Tomé City - Bom Bom Island

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day on Bom Bom Island.
  • Transfer to Bom Bom Island by boat (approximately 15 minutes from São Tomé City).
  • Enjoy activities like snorkeling, diving or simply lounging on the beach.
  • Lunch at Bom Bom’s restaurant. Enjoy fresh seafood caught daily.
  • Return to São Tomé City in the evening and have dinner at leisure.

Day 4: São Tomé City - Príncipe Island

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Check out of your hotel for a trip to Príncipe Island.
  • Travel to Principe Airport and catch a flight to Príncipe Island (flights operate twice weekly).
  • Transfer to your accommodation on Príncipe Island. We recommend Roça Belo Monte or Jardim do Golfo.
  • Visit Bom Bom Waterfall and relax at the natural pool.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant. Try dishes such as grilled fish (peixe assado) or beans stew (feijão).

Day 5: Príncipe Island - Roça Agostinho Neto - Praia do Príncipe

Day 6: Departure from Príncipe Island - São Tomé City

  • Transfer to Principe Airport and catch a flight back to São Tomé City (flights operate twice weekly).
