Samoa 3 Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Apia Exploration
Welcome to Samoa! Upon arrival at Faleolo International Airport (APW), complete the biosecurity clearance process. To make your travel easier, consider booking a taxi or pre-arranged transfer from the airport.
Visit:* Apia, the capital city of Samoa, offers a glimpse into Samoan culture and history. Explore the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, dedicated to the Scottish author who lived in Samoa for several years. Stroll around the colorful market in town for local produce and handicrafts.
Activity:* Take a relaxing swim at the To Sua Ocean Trench, a natural swimming pool filled with seawater connected to the ocean through a lava tunnel. Enjoy a traditional Samoan feast (uma) in the evening.
Things to know:
- Electricity: Samoa uses 240 volts and the power sockets are of type I. If your devices don’t support this, consider bringing an adapter.
- Currency: The official currency is Samoan Tala (WST). Credit cards are widely accepted in larger towns and tourist areas, but it’s good to have some cash on hand for smaller establishments or markets.
- Language: English is the second language and widely spoken, along with Samoan.
Day 2: Western Samoa Cultural Experience & Swimming at Lalomanu Beach
Visit:* Start your day with a cultural village tour to learn about traditional Samoan life, witness fire-knife dancing, and participate in a kava ceremony. Some recommended villages include Saleaula, Vaimea, or Sapapali’i.
Activity:* Spend the afternoon unwinding at Lalomanu Beach, known for its clear waters and beautiful sunsets. Don’t miss the chance to try out snorkeling or kayaking.
Day 3: Eastern Samoa Adventure & Farewell Dinner
Visit:* Drive eastward towards the scenic Mulifanua area, where you can visit the Alofaaga Blowholes and the Leta’s Falealupo Mataafa Village. The blowholes are a natural geological wonder, and the village offers insights into Samoa’s eastern culture.
Activity:* Visit the Piula Cave Pool, a freshwater swimming hole nestled within a cave system. End your day with a traditional Samoan cooking class or a farewell dinner at a local restaurant to savor more of the delicious island cuisine.
Transportation: Samoa has reliable public buses connecting the main towns, but car rentals are also available for those who prefer self-driving. Remember to drive on the left side of the road! Taxis and guided tours can be booked as well.
Visa Requirements: For most nationalities, a visa is not required for stays up to 60 days. However, it’s essential to check the current requirements for your passport, as regulations may change. Always have a valid passport and proof of onward travel with you.
Enjoy your trip to beautiful Samoa!
