Saint Petersburg 6-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & City Center Exploration

  • Stay at: Luxury - Belmond Grand Hotel Europe; Mid-Range - Hotel Moskva; Budget - Hostel Loftas
  • Transportation: Taxi or Metro (Get a Troika card for unlimited rides)
  • Breakfast at: Café Pouchkino or Znamienskaya Bakery

Activities:

  1. Visit St. Isaac’s Cathedral and climb the colonnade for a panoramic city view
  2. Explore Nevsky Prospekt, the main street of Saint Petersburg, with its historic buildings, shops, and cafes
  3. Walk around Palace Square and see the famous Winter Palace and Spit of Basil Island

Day 2: Museums & The Hermitage

  • Lunch at: Cafe pod Vysotami or Et Cetera

Activities:

  1. Visit the State Hermitage Museum (Full day activity, includes the Winter Palace and the General Staff Building)
  2. Explore the Fabergé Museum to see the world’s largest collection of Fabergé eggs
  3. Take a walk along the Embankment of the Neva River

Day 3: Peter & Paul Fortress & The Peterhof

  • Lunch at: Sushi Bar Raspberry or Bistro Baranov

Activities:

  1. Visit the Peter and Paul Fortress, including the Cathedral where many Russian emperors are buried
  2. Take a hydrofoil to Peterhof (Hydrofoils depart from the Fontanka river embankment)
  3. Explore the Lower Park and Grand Cascade at Peterhof
  4. Return to Saint Petersburg by hydrofoil or train (Train is less expensive but takes longer)

Day 4: Catherine Palace & Tsarskoe Selo

  • Lunch at: Restaurant Pushkin or Cafe de l’Europe

Activities:

  1. Visit the Catherine Palace and Amber Room in Tsarskoe Selo (Can be combined with Peterhof on Day 3)
  2. Explore the village of Tsarskoe Selo and see Alexander Palace, where Russian emperors lived during the summer

Day 5: Aurora Cruise & Canal Ring Walk

  • Dinner at: Oblomov or Twelve Apostles Restaurant

Activities:

  1. Take an evening cruise on the Aurora, the famous battleship that signaled the start of the Revolution in 1917
  2. Walk along the Canal Ring (also known as the Embankments of the Moika and Fontanka rivers) to see stunning architecture and bridges

Day 6: Departure

  • Breakfast at your hotel or a nearby café
  • Depending on your flight time, you might have time for last-minute souvenir shopping or sightseeing in areas not yet visited.
