Romania 5-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Bucharest

  • Start your journey in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania. Visit the iconic Palace of the Parliament, one of the largest administrative buildings in the world.
  • Explore the vibrant University Square (Piata Universitatii) and enjoy local cuisine at one of the many restaurants.
  • Don’t miss the open-air Museum of the Romanian Peasant to understand the traditional rural life in Romania.
  • Things to Know: Bucharest is known for its traffic, so plan your sightseeing around the city carefully or consider using public transport.
  • Visa Requirements: Citizens from many countries do not need a visa for stays under 90 days. Always check with your local embassy before traveling.
  • Transportation: Taxis are easily available, but be sure to use only authorized companies. The city also has an efficient metro system and bus network.

Day 2: Bucharest - Brasov

  • Travel to Brasov (approximately 2 hours by car or train). Visit the Black Church, the largest Gothic edifice in Southern Europe.

  • For outdoor enthusiasts, hike up to Mount Tampa for panoramic views of Brasov.

Day 3: Brasov - Sibiu

  • Head to Sibiu (approximately 2 hours by car or train). This beautiful city was the European Cultural Capital in 2007.
  • Visit the stunning Hermann’s Citadel, a medieval fortification with panoramic views of the city.
  • Explore the old town center, with its colorful houses and charming squares like the Large Square and the Small Square.

Day 4: Sibiu - Sighisoara

  • Visit Dracula’s birthplace, the Council Tower, and walk along the city walls for a unique perspective on Sighisoara.

  • Transportation: Driving or using public transport from Sibiu are both convenient options.

Day 5: Sighisoara - B Bucuresti (Brasov or Bucharest)

  • Depending on your travel plans, return to Bucharest or continue to Brasov.
  • If returning to Bucharest, consider visiting the National Art Museum, which houses an impressive collection of Romanian and European art.
  • If going back to Brasov, you might want to explore the nearby Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) or the beautiful village of Rasnov.
  • Things to Know: When departing Romania, make sure to allow enough time for your journey to the airport and check-in procedures.
  • Transportation: If you rented a car, return it to the rental location before heading to the airport. Taxis are also available but can be more expensive.
