7-Day Itinerary for Exploring Poland
Day 1: Warsaw
- Arrival at Chopin Airport (WAW)
- Check-in at a central hotel (recommended: Novotel Centrum or Ibis Styles Warszawa Centrum)
- Visit the Royal Castle, Wilanow Palace, and Old Town with its colorful townhouses and bustling Market Square.
- Enjoy a traditional Polish dinner at Podwale 13 (Zapiecek).
Day 2: Warsaw - Auschwitz-Birkenau
- Early morning departure for Oswiecim (Auschwitz) by train or bus.
- Visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. Book your tickets in advance online to avoid queues.
- Return to Warsaw in the evening.
Day 3: Krakow
- Travel from Warsaw to Krakow by train (around 3 hours).
- Check-in at a central hotel (recommended: Orbis Hotel or Amber Hotel).
- Visit Wawel Castle, St. Mary’s Basilica, and the Main Market Square.
- Explore Kazimierz, Krakow’s former Jewish quarter, and visit the Remuh Synagogue.

Day 4: Krakow - Wieliczka Salt Mine - Krakow
- Visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the morning.

- Return to Krakow and spend the evening at the trendy Kazimierz district.
Day 5: Zakopane
- Travel from Krakow to Zakopane by bus (around 2 hours).
- Visit the wooden churches in the Sanok region en route.
- Arrive in Zakopane and check-in at a local hotel or guesthouse.
- Spend the day exploring the Tatra Mountains, hiking, or taking a cable car up Gubalowka Hill for stunning views.
Day 6: Zakopane - Bialowieza Forest
- Travel from Zakopane to Białowieża National Park by train or bus (around 4 hours).
- Explore the ancient Bialowieza Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s last remaining primeval forests.
- Take a guided walk with a ranger to see the European bison, deer, and other wildlife.
- Return to your accommodation in Białowieża or nearby Hajnówka.
Day 7: Departure
- Travel back to Warsaw (around 4 hours) or directly to your departure airport (WAW).
- If time allows, explore any remaining attractions you missed during the week, or enjoy some last-minute shopping for amber jewelry and other souvenirs.
Things to Know:
- Poland uses the Euro in some cities (Krakow, Sopot, Gdansk), but primarily the Złoty (PLN). Credit cards are widely accepted in major cities, but it’s always good to have local currency on hand.
- The official language is Polish. English is spoken in most tourist areas and by many younger people, but a basic knowledge of Polish can be helpful.
