Peru 7-Day Travel Itinerary (Markdown Format)

Day 1: Lima

  • Arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport, Lima.
  • Check into your hotel and rest from the journey.
  • Visit Miraflores Central Park, Larcomar for sunset, and Huaca Pucllana archaeological site.
  • Things to know: Lima is known for its ceviche, so don’t miss trying it! Also, be aware of pickpocketing in crowded areas.
  • Transportation: Taxis are widely available, or use Uber for safer travel.

Day 2: Lima to Paracas

  • Morning transfer to Paracas by bus (around 3 hours).
  • Visit Ballestas Islands for wildlife viewing.
  • Afternoon at leisure on Paracas Beach or explore town.
  • Things to know: Bring sunscreen and a hat for the beach, and remember to hydrate due to the desert climate.

Day 3: Paracas to Nazca

  • Head to Nazca by bus (around 2 hours).
  • Overflight of Nazca Lines (book in advance).
  • Afternoon visit to the nearby Oasis of Huacachina for sandboarding and dune buggy rides.
  • Things to know: The best time to see the Nazca lines is early morning or late afternoon when the sun is not too bright.

Day 4: Nazca to Arequipa

  • Travel by bus to Arequipa (around 6 hours).
  • City tour of Arequipa, including the Santa Catalina Monastery and Juanita Mummy at Museo Santuarios Andinos.
  • Things to know: Arequipa is known as the “White City” due to its volcanic rock construction. Remember to dress warmly as it can get chilly.

Day 5: Colca Canyon Tour

  • Day trip to Colca Canyon (around 3 hours each way).
  • Spot Andean condors and enjoy the stunning views of the canyon.
  • Return to Arequipa in the evening.
  • Things to know: The best time to see the condors is early morning or late afternoon. Bring comfortable shoes for walking.

Day 6: Arequipa to Cusco

  • Flight from Arequipa to Cusco (around 1 hour).
  • City tour of Cusco, including Koricancha Temple and Sacsayhuaman Fortress.
  • Things to know: Remember to rest and acclimatize as Cusco is at a high altitude. Drink coca tea for altitude sickness relief.

Day 7: Machu Picchu

  • Take the early train to Aguas Calientes (around 3 hours).
  • Visit Machu Picchu in the morning and explore the Inca ruins.
  • Return to Cusco in the evening by train.
  • Things to know: Buy your Machu Picchu tickets and train tickets well in advance as they sell out quickly. Bring a rain jacket as weather can be unpredictable.
