Palestine 5 Day Itinerary
5-Day Itinerary for Travelling in Palestine (Markdown Format)
Day 1: Arrival in Jerusalem
- Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport or Queen Alia International Airport, and transfer to the Allenby Bridge/King Hussein Crossing (Jordan) if you’re entering from there.
- Check into your hotel in East Jerusalem. Recommended: Abraham Hostel Jerusalem or similar.
- Visit the Old City of Jerusalem:
- The Church of the Holy Sepulchre
- The Western Wall (Wailing Wall)
- Via Dolorosa (The Way of Sorrows)
Day 2: Explore East Jerusalem and Bethlehem
- Start your day with a visit to Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem.
- Walk down to the Garden of Gethsemane.
- Proceed to Bethlehem (approximately 30 minutes by taxi or bus).
- Visit the Church of the Nativity and Manger Square.
Things to know:
- Palestine is under Israeli occupation, so travel documents may be checked frequently.
- Entry requirements: A valid passport is required for all visitors. Some nationalities require a visa in advance, while others can obtain a visa on arrival. Check your country’s specific requirements.
- Currency: The official currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD) or Israeli New Shekel (ILS). Many places accept US dollars.
- Safety: Exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially in crowded areas.
Day 3: Jericho, Bethany Beyond the Jordan and Dead Sea
- Head to Jericho, one of the oldest cities in the world (approximately 40 minutes by taxi or bus).
- Visit Hisham’s Palace and Tel es-Sultan (Biblical Jericho).
- Continue to Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
- Spend the afternoon at the Dead Sea: float, relax, and enjoy a mud bath!
Day 4: Hebron and Herodion National Park
- Visit Hebron, the oldest city in the world (approximately 1 hour by taxi or bus).
- Tour the Ibrahimi Mosque (Tomb of the Patriarchs) with a local guide.
- Explore the Old City’s Souq and H2 area (access restricted for safety reasons).
- In the afternoon, head to Herodion National Park (approximately 40 minutes by taxi or bus) to learn about King Herod’s palace.
Day 5: Free Day in Jerusalem or Departure
- Spend your last day exploring Jerusalem at your own pace.
- Visit the Israel Museum, Yad Vashem (Holocaust Memorial), or Mount Zion (Dormition Abbey and King David’s Tomb).
- Depart for the airport according to your flight schedule.
