4-Day Itinerary for Exploring Niue

Day 1: Arrival and Alofi Settlement

Arrival: Niue International Airport (IUE) is the only international airport in Niue, located on the west coast of the island. After clearing customs, you can hire a car or book a taxi to explore the island. Remember, driving is on the left side!

Alofi Settlement: Head to Alofi, the capital and main settlement of Niue. Visit the Paenua o Tonga - The Royal Tombs for a glimpse into Niuean history. Check out the local shops and markets for souvenirs, fresh produce, and authentic Niuean cuisine.

• The currency used in Niue is the New Zealand Dollar (NZD).
• English is widely spoken, but it’s always nice to learn a few basic phrases in Niuean!

Day 2: Exploring the South Coast

Matavai Beach: Start your day at Matavai Beach, known for its beautiful coral reefs perfect for snorkeling and swimming. Don’t forget your snorkeling gear!

Limu Pools: Visit these natural rock pools filled with seawater on the southwest coast. They are a great spot for a refreshing dip and photo opportunities.

Talava Arches: Explore the Talava Arches, an impressive geological formation located near the village of Hakupu.

Day 3: Discovering the North Coast

Anahola Rock Pool: Start your day at Anahola Rock Pool on the northeast coast, another fantastic spot for swimming and snorkeling.

Lima Village: Visit Lima Village, the site of one of Niue’s most significant ancient sites. The village offers a unique insight into the island’s history and culture.

Ti’avea Beach: End your day at Ti’avea Beach, known for its beautiful white sand, turquoise waters, and excellent surfing conditions.

Day 4: Relaxation and Departure

Day Spa: Start your final day with a relaxing massage or spa treatment at one of Niue’s day spas.

Beach Time: Spend the rest of your day enjoying the beach, swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing before your flight home.

Departure: Remember to return your rental car and check in for your flight at least 2 hours before departure.
