New Caledonia 6-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Nouméa Exploration

  • Arrive at La Tontouta International Airport (NOU)

  • Visa Requirements: For most countries, a tourist visa is not required for stays up to 30 days. However, it’s always best to check the latest information on the New Caledonia Government website or with your local embassy.

  • Transportation: Taxis are available at the airport. Alternatively, you can book a shared shuttle service in advance.

  • Activities:

    • Visit Anse Vata Beach for a relaxing start to your trip. Enjoy water activities like snorkeling or hire a jet-ski.
    • Explore Le Maréchal Souvenir Island, a small island off Anse Vata with local food, drinks, and crafts.
    • Visit the Tjibaou Cultural Center to learn about Kanak culture and art.

Day 2: Nouméa & Surroundings

  • Activities:
    • Drive to Auteuil Lookout, for panoramic views of Nouméa, Baie des Citrons, and the lagoon.
    • Visit the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center (if not visited on Day 1).
    • Explore the Parc Provincial de la Rivière Bleue, a beautiful park with a crystal clear river.

Day 3: Ouvea Island

  • Transportation: Take an early morning flight to Ouvea from Tontouta Airport (NOU). Check schedules and book in advance.

  • Activities:

    • Visit the stunning Plage des Chevaliers, one of the most beautiful beaches in New Caledonia.
    • Explore the island, meet locals, and enjoy traditional Kanak culture.

Day 4: Ile Maitre & Pointe Canon

  • Transportation: Take a boat tour from Ouvea to Ile Maitre.

  • Activities:

    • Snorkel in the clear waters around Ile Maitre and observe the rich marine life.
    • Visit Pointe Canon, a unique geological formation on Ile Maitre.

Day 5: Bourail & Koumac

  • Transportation: Take a flight to Bourail from Ouvea, then hire a car for the day (car rental available at Bourail Airport). Drive to Koumac.

  • Activities:

    • Visit the Lagoon of Koumac, a stunning natural wonder perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
    • Explore the Salt Flats of Koumac and learn about the region’s salt production history.

Day 6: Departure

  • Transportation: Drive back to Bourail Airport and catch a flight to La Tontouta International Airport (NOU) for your departure.
