Nepal 2 Day Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu Exploration
Visa Requirements: Ensure you have a valid passport and apply for a Tourist Visa online before your arrival in Nepal. You can also obtain a visa on arrival at the airport or border checkpoints. Check the latest requirements here.
Transportation: Kathmandu has an international airport (KTM) with direct flights from various destinations around the world. Taxis are readily available outside the airport, or you can book a private car in advance.
Morning:
- Start your day with a visit to Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most significant Hindu temples in the world, located on the banks of the Bagmati River.
- Head to Boudhanath Stupa, a Buddhist stupa that is an important pilgrimage site for Tibetan Buddhists and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Afternoon:
- Have lunch at one of the traditional Nepalese restaurants in Thamel, Kathmandu’s tourist hub. Recommended: Newari Cuisine Restaurant and Or2K Cafe.
- Explore the Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing the Nepalese royal palace, temples, and the Kumari Chok (Living Goddess residence).
- Visit Swayambunath Temple, also known as the Monkey Temple, at the end of the afternoon. Remember to bring small change for monkey food if you want to interact with them!
Evening:
- Enjoy a traditional Nepalese dinner and cultural show at Kathmandu Living Art Cafe.
- Take a leisurely stroll through Thamel’s bustling streets, filled with shops, restaurants, and street vendors.
Day 2: Pokhara Adventure
Transportation: Book a flight or bus ticket from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The flight offers stunning views of the Himalayas, while the bus journey takes around 6-7 hours.
Morning:
- After arriving in Pokhara, head to Sarangkot for sunrise views of the Himalayas, including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains.
- Visit the Tibetan Refugee Camp, where you can learn about Tibetan culture and support local artisans.
Afternoon:
- Have lunch at Lakefront Road and enjoy the beautiful view of Phewa Lake. Recommended: Laxmi Guesthouse or Mountain Cafe.
- Spend the afternoon boating on Phewa Lake, where you can visit the Tal Barahi Temple located in the middle of the lake.
- Explore the local area and try some street food at Mahendrapul Bazaar.
Evening:
- Take a leisurely stroll around the Lakeside neighborhood, visiting shops, cafes, and art galleries.
- Enjoy dinner at Nepali Kitchen, known for its delicious Nepalese cuisine.
- If you’re feeling adventurous, consider a nighttime safari at Chitwan National Park or a paragliding session at Sarangkot (available during the day).
