Muscat, Oman 6 Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Exploring the City

  • Arrive at Muscat International Airport. You can book a taxi or use ride-hailing services like Uber or Careem.

  • Check-in at your hotel (recommended: Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort, Chedi Muscat or InterContinental Muscat).

  • Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Dress modestly and remove shoes before entering.

  • Have lunch at The Tannoura Restaurant in the Grand Mosque complex, offering authentic Omani cuisine.

  • Spend the afternoon exploring Muttrah Souk, a traditional market selling everything from spices to handicrafts. Don’t forget to haggle!

  • Have dinner at Al Boom Beach Resort & Spa, offering beautiful views and seafood dishes.

Day 2: Cultural Experiences

  • Start the day with a traditional Omani breakfast at your hotel.

  • Visit Bait Al Zubair Museum to learn about Oman’s history and culture.

  • Head to Al Alam Palace, the official residence of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, and take photos from outside.

  • Lunch at Al Makhlouf Restaurant in Ruwi area, known for its tasty grills.

  • Spend the afternoon at the National Museum of Oman.

  • In the evening, enjoy a traditional dhow cruise in Muttrah Harbour.

Day 3: Day Trip to Wadi Shab

  • Early morning departure to Wadi Shab, about an hour’s drive from Muscat.

  • Explore the wadi (dry river bed), swim in natural pools, and visit the famous cave with a waterfall inside.

  • Pack a picnic lunch or have lunch at one of the local restaurants near the wadi.

  • Return to Muscat in the evening and relax. Have dinner at your hotel or explore more local dining options.

Day 4: Relaxation & Beach Time

  • Spend the day relaxing at Qurum Beach or Al-Khuwair Beach, both easily accessible from Muscat city.

  • Lunch at one of the beachside restaurants.

  • In the afternoon, visit the Royal Opera House for a tour if you’re interested in architecture and performing arts.

Day 5: Adventure & Wildlife

  • Depart early morning to Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve (about a 3-hour drive) for a turtle watching experience at night.

  • Have dinner at the reserve’s restaurant.

  • Return to Muscat in the morning and have breakfast at your hotel.

Day 6: Last Day & Departure

  • Spend your last day shopping for souvenirs or exploring areas you missed during the week.

  • Have a farewell lunch at one of the restaurants you enjoyed during your stay.

  • Check out from your hotel and head to Muscat International Airport for your departure.
