Marrakech 4-Day Travel Itinerary

Day 1: Explore Djemaa el-Fna & Bahia Palace

  • Morning: Arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport, transfer to your riad (traditional Moroccan guest house).
  • Afternoon: Visit the bustling Djemaa el-Fna square. Witness snake charmers, storytellers, and food vendors.
  • Evening: Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner at Cafe Arabe or Nomad.
  • Overnight at your riad.

Day 2: Bahia Palace, Jardin Majorelle & Yves Saint Laurent Museum

  • Morning: Visit the beautiful Bahia Palace and its lush gardens. Then, explore the Saadian Tombs nearby.
  • Afternoon: Discover Jardin Majorelle, the serene garden created by French artist Jacques Majorelle and later owned by Yves Saint Laurent. Don’t forget to visit the Yves Saint Laurent Museum located inside the gardens.
  • Evening: Dine at Le Jardin or Dar Moha for a unique dining experience amidst stunning surroundings.

Day 3: Souk Shopping & Hamman & Spa Experience

  • Morning: Explore the labyrinthine souks of Marrakech, with the main ones being Souk Semmarine, Souk Cherrat and Souk Smata. Barter for traditional Moroccan goods such as carpets, lanterns, and spices.
  • Afternoon: Relax with a traditional Hamman & Spa experience at Les Bains de Marrakech or Riad Yasmine.
  • Evening: Enjoy a rooftop dinner at Tanjia or Le Grand Cafe de la Poste to watch the sunset over the city.
  • Overnight at your riad.

Day 4: Day Trip to Ourika Valley & Atlas Mountains

  • Morning: Take a guided day trip to the scenic Ourika Valley and Atlas Mountains, where you can visit traditional Berber villages and enjoy stunning views.
  • Afternoon: Return to Marrakech and explore the vibrant Gueliz district, known for its modern shops, restaurants, and cafes.
  • Evening: Farewell dinner at Al Fassia, a renowned restaurant serving traditional Moroccan cuisine.
  • Overnight at your riad or prepare for departure the following day.

Things to Know:

  1. Haggling is expected in the souks and markets.
  2. Modest dress is appreciated when visiting mosques, which are otherwise closed to non-Muslims.
  3. Bargain taxis are available, but agree on a price before starting your journey.
  4. A good pair of comfortable walking shoes will be essential.
  5. Always have small Moroccan notes (10 & 20 Dirham) for tipping or small purchases.
  6. English is widely spoken in tourist areas and by guides, but learning a few basic Arabic phrases can enhance your experience.
  7. Remember to hydrate well, as temperatures can be high during the day.
