Madagascar 7-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Antananarivo (Tana)

  • Arrival: Tana’s Ivato International Airport is the primary gateway to Madagascar. Ensure you have a valid passport and check visa requirements before travel. (Visa on arrival for some nationalities, so do check online)

  • Activities: Acclimatize to the city and explore local markets like the Grand Rue D’Antananarivo or Andrianjaka Market. Visit the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 2: Antananarivo - Andasibe-Mantadia National Park

  • Transport: Hire a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) or arrange a private car to travel to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, about 4 hours away.

  • Activities: Visit the Vakona Private Reserve to see lemurs up close and visit the Lemur Island. Explore Mantadia National Park for various lemur species and unique flora.

Day 3: Andasibe-Mantadia - Perinet Special Reserve

  • Activities: Spend the day exploring Perinet Special Reserve, home to the Indri lemurs. Join a guided night walk to see nocturnal lemurs and reptiles.

Day 4: Andasibe-Mantadia - Antsirabe

  • Transport: Travel by taxi-brousse or private car to Antsirabe, approximately 3 hours away.

  • Activities: Relax in the natural mineral hot springs, visit traditional artisan workshops, and explore the city on a rickshaw.

Day 5: Antsirabe - Miandrivazo - Morondava

  • Transport: Continue your journey to Morondava by shared taxi or bus via Miandrivazo (approximately 7 hours).

  • Activities: Upon arrival, visit the Avenue of Baobabs and sunset at Belon’i Tsiribihina.

Day 6: Morondava - Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park

  • Transport: Hire a boat or taxi-brousse to reach Tsingy de Bemaraha, about 3 hours away by water.

  • Activities: Explore the limestone formations and forests of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don’t miss the Manambolo Boat Tour for spectacular views of the tsingy.

Day 7: Tsingy de Bemaraha - Morondava - Antananarivo

  • Transport: Return to Morondava and continue your journey back to Tana by shared taxi or bus (approximately 9 hours).

  • Activities: Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to explore more of Morondava or relax before heading to the airport.
