Luxor 6-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Karnak Temple
- Arrive at Luxor International Airport. You can pre-arrange a private transfer or use a taxi service.
- Check-in at Sofitel Winter Palace Luxor - a luxurious hotel overlooking the Nile River.
- Visit Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest religious buildings ever built. Don’t miss the Great Hypostyle Hall with its massive columns.
- For dinner, try Al Sufi Restaurant at Sofitel Winter Palace, offering a variety of Egyptian and international dishes.
- Things to know: Luxor is divided into two main areas: East Bank (modern city) and West Bank (ancient sites).
Day 2: West Bank Exploration
- Breakfast at your hotel.
- Take a hired car or join a tour to visit the famous Valley of the Kings, where tombs of Pharaohs like Tutankhamun, Ramesses VI, and Seti I can be found.
- Proceed to Hatshepsut Temple at Deir el Bahri, one of Egypt’s most striking monuments.
- Lunch in a local restaurant near the Valley of the Queens, such as Mama’s House.
- Visit Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.
- Return to your hotel for relaxation or explore Luxor city on your own.
- Dinner at Abu Nawar Restaurant, offering a mix of traditional Egyptian and Middle Eastern dishes.
Day 3: East Bank Sightseeing
- Breakfast at your hotel.
- Visit Luxor Temple in the morning, an impressive temple complex dedicated to the god Amun-Ra.
- Cross the Nile to explore the Temple of Luxor, known for its enormous colonnade and obelisks.
- Lunch at a local restaurant like Eld Sultan.
- Spend the afternoon exploring the Luxor Museum or shopping in local bazaars like Khan El Khalili Bazaar for souvenirs.
- Return to your hotel for relaxation or enjoy a Nile cruise with dinner onboard.
Day 4: Free Day
- Enjoy a leisurely day. You can opt for additional activities like hot air balloon rides, sound & light shows at Karnak or Luxor Temples, or a Felucca boat ride on the Nile.
- Spend the evening relaxing by the pool or exploring more of Luxor city.
Day 5: Amon-Ra & Abydos Trip (Optional)
- Take a day trip to Amon-Ra Temple at Siwa Oasis or visit Abydos Temple, an ancient Egyptian religious site dedicated to the god Osiris. These trips require pre-arrangement and may be done with a tour operator.
Day 6: Departure
- Breakfast at your hotel.
- Spend the morning at leisure, perhaps revisiting favorite sites or doing some last-minute shopping.
- Check out from your hotel and depart from Luxor International Airport.
