Lesotho 6-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Maseru

  • Arrive at Moshoeshoe I International Airport (MSU) in Maseru.
  • Check into your hotel and rest after your journey.
  • Visit the National Museum and Cultural Village to learn about Lesotho’s history and culture.
  • Evening stroll around the city, try local food at Mantsonyane Craft Center.

Day 2: Maseru to Thaba-Bosiu

  • Morning drive to Thaba-Bosiu (approximately 30 minutes). Visit the National Monument and explore the beautiful surroundings.
  • Head to Malealea Reserve for horseback riding or hiking.
  • Overnight at Malealea Lodge.

Day 3: Thaba-Bosiu to Maletsunyane Falls

  • Drive to Semonkong (approximately 2 hours), home to the highest single-drop waterfall in Africa, Maletsunyane Falls.
  • Take a guided walk or pony trek to the base of the falls.
  • Visit the local village and experience Basotho lifestyle.
  • Overnight at Semonkong Lodge.

Day 4: Maletsunyane Falls to Sesiotla Cave

  • Morning drive to Sesiotla Cave (approximately 2 hours). Explore the cave and its unique geological formations.
  • Visit the Katse Dam, the largest in Lesotho, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Overnight at Mantsonyane Hotel in Roma.

Day 5: Roma to Sani Pass

  • Early morning drive to Sani Pass (approximately 2 hours), bordering Lesotho and South Africa.
  • Take a guided 4x4 trip up the pass, offering breathtaking views of the Drakensberg Mountains.
  • Visit the highest pub in Africa, the “Sani Top Chalet” for lunch.
  • Overnight at a hotel in Underberg or Himeville, South Africa (you can return to Lesotho the next day).

Day 6: Sani Pass to Maseru

  • Morning drive back to Maseru (approximately 3 hours).
  • Visit the Craft Market for last-minute souvenirs.
  • Depart from Moshoeshoe I International Airport.

  • Lesotho’s climate is high altitude, so pack warm clothing, even during summer months.
