North Korea 4-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Pyongyang Arrival and City Exploration

  • Arrival at Pyongyang Sunan International Airport: Visas are required for all foreign travelers, so make sure to arrange this before your trip. You will be met by a local guide at the airport.

  • Moran Hill: Start your day with a visit to Moran Hill where you can see statues of the Korean leaders and enjoy panoramic views over Pyongyang.

  • Kim Il-sung Square: This central square is the heart of the city, often filled with flowers and surrounded by grand buildings such as the Party Foundation Monument.

  • Arch of Triumph: Similar to its counterpart in Paris, this arch commemorates the victorious return of Kim Il-sung from the Soviet Union after World War II.

  • Riverside Walk: In the evening, take a stroll along the Taedong River and enjoy the city lights.

Day 2: Historical Sites and Monuments

  • Mausoleum of Kim Il-sung: Pay respects at the mausoleum of North Korea’s founding leader. Dress modestly and follow all rules carefully.

  • Kim Il-sung Stadium: This massive stadium is used for mass gymnastics displays and other events. If you’re lucky, you might get to witness one!

  • Juche Tower: Overlooking the city, this tower represents the ideology of Juche, or self-reliance. Climb to the top for a great view.

  • Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery: Pay tribute to those who died in the struggle for Korean independence.

Day 3: Rural and Industrial Sites

  • Mansudae Art Studio: Visit this art studio where many of North Korea’s famous statues are produced.

  • Kumgangsan Mountain Range: If your tour includes a visit to this scenic mountain range, you’ll have the opportunity to see beautiful waterfalls and lush valleys. Remember to respect local customs when visiting Buddhist temples.

  • North Korea’s First Hydroelectric Power Station: Learn about North Korea’s industrial history at this historic site.

Day 4: Return to Pyongyang and Departure

  • Pyongyang Metro Ride: Experience a unique slice of life in North Korea by riding the Pyongyang Metro with locals.

  • Aparri CafĂ© Street: Enjoy some local cuisine before heading back to the airport for your departure.

  • Departure from Pyongyang Sunan International Airport: Say goodbye to your guide and make sure to take home memories of this unique and intriguing destination!
