Iceland 4-Day Itinerary (Markdown Version)
Day 1: Reykjavik Exploration
- Arrival at Keflavik International Airport. Remember, Iceland is in the Atlantic Time Zone (GMT).
- Transfer to Reykjavik. The city center is just a short drive from the airport. Consider booking a transfer in advance or using bus services like Flybus.
- City Tour. Visit Hallgrimskirkja, Harpa Concert Hall, Laugavegur shopping street, and the Sun Voyager sculpture.
- Lunch at a local restaurant, such as Café Loki or Sandholt bakery.
- Perlan Museum. Explore Iceland’s natural history, including the Northern Lights exhibit.
- Dinner at Dill Restaurant, one of the top fine dining establishments in Reykjavik.
- Evening stroll around Tjörnin (The Pond), a charming urban lake in the city center.
Day 2: Golden Circle Tour
- Morning. Start early for the famous Golden Circle route. Rent a car or join a guided tour. The route includes Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area (Strokkur), and Gullfoss waterfall.
- Lunch at a local café along the way or pack your own picnic.
- Afternoon. Continue to the Secret Lagoon (Gamla Laugin) for a relaxing soak in a hot spring. Alternatively, visit the Blue Lagoon if it’s not on Day 1.
- Dinner back in Reykjavik at Fish Company or Kaffivagninn food truck park.
Day 3: South Coast Adventure
- Morning. Head to the South Coast, stopping at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls along the way.
- Lunch in the charming village of Vík. Try a local fish restaurant or the famous Víkurbrautidarbakki café.
- Afternoon. Visit Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, Dyrhólaey cliffs, and Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon (seasonal).
- Dinner at a restaurant in Vík or back in Reykjavik.
Day 4: Blue Lagoon & Departure
- Morning. If you didn’t visit the Blue Lagoon earlier, spend your last hours relaxing there before departure.
- Lunch at the Blue Lagoon or at the airport (e.g., Bakehouse by Blue Lagoon).
- Afternoon/Evening. Return your rental car and check in for your flight at Keflavik International Airport.
Visa Requirements
For most countries, Iceland is visa-exempt for stays under 90 days as part of the Schengen Area. Check your country’s specific requirements before traveling.
Transportation
