Gdansk 5-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Exploring the Old Town (Dzielnica Stara)

  • Morning: Check-in at your hotel. Familiarize yourself with the area and grab a coffee at one of the local cafes such as Café Kubuś or Café Pod Orlem.
  • Afternoon: Visit the Long Market (Długi Targ) and take in the historic architecture. Explore Neptune’s Fountain and Artus Court. Don’t miss the Town Hall Tower, which offers panoramic views of Gdansk.
  • Evening: Savor a delicious dinner at Rzeźnia or Piwnica Pod Bloniem, both located in the Old Town. Try local dishes such as Pierogi and Zurek soup.

Day 2: Westerplatte & European Solidarity Centre

  • Morning: Take a short tram ride to Westerplatte, where World War II began. Visit the Monument of the Fallen Heroes and learn about the history at the Westerplatte Museum.
  • Afternoon: Head back to the city center and visit the European Solidarity Centre. This modern museum tells the story of the Solidarity movement that led to the end of Communist rule in Poland.
  • Evening: Enjoy dinner at Restauracja Kogut or Bazar Wegiel. Both offer a variety of dishes and a great atmosphere.

Day 3: Oliwa & Motlawa River

  • Morning: Visit the Oliwa Cathedral with its unique seven-branched pipe organ, and stroll around the beautiful Oliwa Park.
  • Afternoon: Take a boat tour on the Motlawa River. This is a great way to see the city from a different perspective and learn about its history. Alternatively, you can walk along the river and visit the Amber Museum or the Gdansk Shipyard.
  • Evening: Dine at Restauracja Wielka Kawiarnia in the Old Town, known for its traditional Polish cuisine.

Day 4: Sopot & Gdynia

  • Morning: Take a short train ride to Sopot, famous for its long beach and the Crooked House. Walk along the Sopot Pier and enjoy the sea breeze.
  • Afternoon: Head to Gdynia, another city in the Tri-City region. Visit the Polish Naval Museum or take a stroll around the modern harbor.
  • Evening: Return to Gdansk and have dinner at Grom Adam for some delicious seafood dishes.

Day 5: Departure

  • Morning: Spend your last hours in Gdansk doing some shopping or sightseeing, depending on your flight schedule. Don’t forget to visit the Golden Gate (Brama Złota) before you leave!
  • Afternoon: Depart from Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.

  • Gdansk is a walkable city, but trams and buses are also available for transportation. You can buy tickets at kiosks or on the tram itself.
  • Most establishments accept credit cards, but it’s always good to have some local currency (PLN) on hand.
  • English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas, but a few phrases in Polish can go a long way.
