Day 1: Stanley & Surroundings

  1. Arrival at Mount Pleasant Airport: The main airport in the Falklands is Mount Pleasant, a former runway of a disused British airbase. After clearing customs, you’ll be transported into Stanley town.

  2. Stanley Town Exploration (2-3 hours): Start your journey by visiting the Falkland Islands Museum & National Trust to gain insight into the islands’ history and culture. Don’t miss out on the unique Stanley Dockyard and the Cathedral Church of Saint Mary the Virgin.

  3. Gypsy Cove (1-2 hours): A short drive from Stanley will take you to Gypsy Cove, home to a large colony of Magellanic penguins. Enjoy the stunning views and watch these charming creatures in their natural habitat.

  4. Port Stanley Walk (1-2 hours): Take an evening stroll along Port Stanley, enjoy local seafood at one of the waterfront restaurants, and soak up the tranquil atmosphere.

Day 2: East Falkland Island

  1. Dumbbell Island & Kennington Island (4-5 hours): Take a boat tour to these islands to witness large colonies of rockhopper penguins, black-browed albatrosses, and other seabirds.

  2. Goose Green Cemetery (1 hour): Pay your respects at the Goose Green Cemetery, where many British military personnel who lost their lives during the 1982 Falklands War are buried.

  3. Camp (Optional, overnight stay): If you prefer a more adventurous experience, consider camping out on East Falkland Island for a night under the stars. Make sure to arrange this with a local tour operator in advance.

Day 3: West Falkland Island

  1. Volunteer Point (5-6 hours): Travel to Volunteer Point, home to the largest king penguin colony in the Falklands. This is a full-day trip but definitely worth it for the incredible sight of thousands of king penguins!

  2. Saunders Island (3-4 hours): On your way back to Stanley, stop by Saunders Island to see more penguin colonies and wildlife such as elephant seals and various bird species.

  3. Return to Stanley (1-2 hours): End your trip with a relaxing evening in Stanley, reflecting on the amazing sights and experiences you’ve had during your stay in the Falkland Islands.

Visa Requirements: British citizens do not require a visa to enter the Falkland Islands. Other nationalities should check the latest entry requirements with the relevant authorities before traveling.

Transportation: Cars can be rented in Stanley, but most visitors opt for organized tours to explore the islands due to their remote locations and rugged terrain. Boat tours are also available to visit various islands.
