Djibouti 2 Day Itinerary
Day 1: Exploring the Wonders of Djibouti City
Morning:
- Arrival at Ambouli International Airport. Clear customs and obtain your visa (Online e-visa is available for many nationalities, check Djibouti e-Visa)
- Pick up your rental car or arrange a taxi to start your adventure (Driving in Djibouti is on the right side of the road)
First Stop: Visit the National Museum of Djibouti. It offers a rich insight into the country’s history, culture, and natural heritage.
Lunch: Enjoy local cuisine at Le Château or any other recommended restaurant in Djibouti City.
Afternoon:
- Head to Trou du Diable (Devil’s Window) for a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Tadjoura.
- Next, visit the beautiful mosque, Masjid Oum-El-Qusa.
Evening:
- Relax at Plage de Khor Ambadi, a picturesque beach in Djibouti City.
- Have dinner at a local restaurant or your hotel.
Day 2: Natural Wonders of Djibouti
Morning:
- Drive to Lake Assal, the lowest and the saltiest lake in Africa, where you can see the unusual Flamingos. Remember to stay safe as it’s a harsh environment.
Lunch: Packed lunch or have lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Afternoon:
- Head to Lac Abbe, a karstic desert landscape with limestone chimneys known as “Grand Bleu” and “Petit Bleu”. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- If you prefer water activities, visit Ghoubbet el Kharab, the lowest point on Earth’s surface where the Red Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean through a underwater tunnel. You can arrange a boat tour to explore the area.
Evening:
- Return to Djibouti City and have dinner at a restaurant of your choice.
- Prepare for departure the next day.
