Djerba, Tunisia: A 4-Day Travel Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Exploring Djerba Town

  • Arrival: Arrive at Djerba–Zarzis International Airport. You can arrange a taxi or rent a car for your stay (taxis are usually available outside the airport).

  • Mid-Morning: Check-in at your hotel. We recommend Hotel Riu Palace Djerba, offering a private beach, outdoor pools, and excellent service.

  • Lunch: Visit El Menzah Beach for lunch at one of the many seaside restaurants. Try Tunisian seafood specialties like grilled fish (poisson grillé) or seafood couscous.

  • Afternoon: Explore Djerba Town, starting with the beautiful Sidi Bou Said Mosque. Don’t miss the charming local markets for traditional crafts and spices.

  • Evening: Enjoy a sunset stroll along El Marsa Bay, followed by dinner at a local restaurant like Al Jemaa.

Day 2: Historical Sites & Guellala Beach

  • Morning: Visit the Ghriba Synagogue, one of the oldest in the world, and explore the nearby Museum of Jewish Art and History.

  • Lunch: Head to El Mouradi Gardens Hotel for a buffet lunch with a variety of international dishes.

  • Afternoon: Discover the Roman ruins at Mouly el Henech, including an ancient temple dedicated to Astarte and a Byzantine basilica.

  • Evening: Relax at Guellala Beach, known for its clear waters and beautiful sunsets. Dine at nearby restaurants like Kasbah Guellala.

Day 3: Exploring the Interior & Bouramice Oasis

  • Morning: Visit El Kantoui, a traditional Berber village, and explore its narrow streets and mud houses.

  • Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Tunisian lunch at a local restaurant in El Kantoui.

  • Afternoon: Head to the Bouramice Oasis and take a camel ride through the palm grove. Don’t forget your camera for stunning photos!

  • Evening: Return to Djerba Town, and perhaps visit a traditional hammam (Turkish bath) for relaxation. Dine at local favorite, Café des Poètes.

Day 4: Leisure & Departure

  • Morning/Afternoon: Spend your last day at leisure, relaxing on the beach or exploring more of Djerba Town. You might want to visit the El Ghriba Museum or take a boat tour around the island.

  • Lunch/Dinner: Enjoy a farewell meal at your favorite spot from the previous days.

  • Departure: Transfer to Djerba–Zarzis International Airport for your departure. Safe travels!
