Cusco 6-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Acclimatization

  • Arrive in Cusco. Rest and acclimate at your accommodation.
  • Accommodation: Hostal Marqo Jasa, Hotel Aranwa Cusco Boutique, etc.
  • Lunch/Dinner: Qespiw Ch’icha, Greens Organic Cafe, or Inca Grill.
  • Things to know: Cusco is at a high altitude (3400m), so take it easy on the first day and drink plenty of coca tea!

Day 2: Sacsayhuaman, Q’enko, Pisaq & Market

  • Morning visit to Sacsayhuaman and Q’enko archaeological sites.
  • Afternoon trip to Pisac market and Inca Ruins.
  • Lunch: Pisac Market or Restaurant Inti Raymi.
  • Dinner: La Bodega Restaurante.
  • Transportation: You can hire a taxi for the day, or consider a guided tour if you prefer.

Day 3: Machu Picchu Tour

  • Early morning take the train to Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes).
  • Spend the day exploring the ruins with a guide and return in the evening to Aguas Calientes.
  • Lunch: Sanctuary Lodge or Tropical Garden Restaurant.
  • Dinner: El Indio Feliz or Inca Grill Aguas Calientes.
  • Transportation: Peru Rail or Inca Rail for the train ride to and from Aguas Calientes.

Day 4: Return to Cusco & San Blas Neighborhood

  • Return to Cusco in the afternoon.
  • Spend the rest of the day exploring the charming San Blas neighborhood, known for its artisans, music scene, and delicious food.
  • Dinner: MAP Cafe or Greens Organic Cafe (San Blas).

Day 5: Sacred Valley Tour

  • Visit Pisac market in the morning if you missed it on Day 2, then continue to Ollantaytambo and Chinchero.
  • Lunch: Tunupa or Uchuchicha in Ollantaytambo.
  • Dinner: Mil Coca or El Albergue (Ollantaytambo).
  • Transportation: You can hire a taxi for the day, or consider a guided tour if you prefer.

Day 6: Cusco City Tour & Departure

  • Spend the morning visiting Coricancha and the Cathedral, as well as other key sites such as the Inca Roca Palace and the Witchcraft Museum.
  • Have lunch at a local restaurant (e.g., Cicciolina or La Taberna Perúana).
  • Depart from Cusco in the afternoon.
  • Transportation: Taxi or shared shuttle to the airport.
