Christmas Island 3-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Discover the Phosphate Islands and Settlement

  • Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Phosphate Islands. These islands are a unique geological formation and were the main reason for Christmas Island’s discovery. You can book a boat tour from Flying Fish Cove. (Cost: approximately $150 per person)

  • Afternoon: Head back to the main island and explore the Settlement. Visit the Phoenix Park, which is home to various native animals like the Christmas Island Forest Skink and the Christmastail Scrubfowl. Don’t miss the historic Settlement Clocktower.

  • Evening: Enjoy a seafood dinner at one of the local restaurants in Flying Fish Cove. (Cost: approximately $20 - $30 per meal)

Day 3: Learn about Christmas Island’s History and Wildlife

  • Morning: Visit the Christmas Island Cultural Centre. Here, you can learn about the island’s history, culture, and unique wildlife.

  • Afternoon: Take a guided tour to see the Red Crabs during their migration (usually November to January). The best place to see them is at Middle Island. (Cost: approximately $100 per person)

  • Evening: Spend your last night on Christmas Island enjoying a traditional Australian BBQ or trying local seafood at one of the island’s restaurants.
