Bolivia 7-Day Itinerary
Day 1: La Paz - Acclimatization and City Exploration
- Arrive at El Alto International Airport (LPB) and transfer to La Paz.
- Spend the day acclimating and exploring the city. Visit Murillo Square, Witches’ Market, and San Francisco Church.
- Overnight stay in La Paz.
Day 2: La Paz - Death Road (Yungas Road) Bike Tour
- Early morning departure for a thrilling downhill bike tour on the Death Road (Yungas Road).
- Safety equipment provided, and guides will accompany you throughout the experience.
- Afternoon return to La Paz and rest.
- Overnight stay in La Paz.
Day 3: La Paz - Uyuni Salt Flat Tour
- Morning transfer by bus or plane to Uyuni (approx. 7 hours by road or 1 hour by flight).
- Spend three days exploring the Uyuni Salt Flat, including Incahuasi Island and the nearby geysers and hot springs.
- Overnight stay in local guesthouses or salt hotels during the tour.
Day 4 - 6: Uyuni Salt Flat Tour (Continued)
- Continue your exploration of the Uyuni Salt Flat, visiting attractions such as the Train Cemetery, Red Lagoon, and Green Lagoon.
- Admire the diverse landscape, wildlife, and stunning sunrises and sunsets.
- Return to Uyuni on Day 6, then transfer back to La Paz by bus or plane (as per your preference).
- Overnight stay in La Paz.
Day 7: La Paz - Lake Titicaca Tour
- Early morning departure for a day tour to Lake Titicaca. Visit the floating islands of the Uros people and the Taquile Island.
- Return to La Paz in the evening and prepare for your departure the next day.
Things to know:
- Bolivian currency is the Boliviano (BOB). Credit cards are accepted in major cities, but it’s best to have cash on hand for smaller towns and villages.
- Spanish is the official language, although some indigenous languages like Quechua and Aymara are spoken in rural areas.
- Visa requirements: Most nationalities require a tourist visa, which can be obtained upon arrival at the airport. Ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.
- Transportation: Taxis, buses, and shared minivans (micros) are readily available in cities, while private tours can be arranged for rural areas like Uyuni Salt Flat.
- Altitude sickness: Bolivia is one of the highest countries in the world, with La Paz sitting at 3,600 meters (11,811 feet). Be aware of altitude sickness symptoms and consult a doctor if necessary.
- Safety: Exercise caution when traveling, especially in crowded areas or at night. Always keep your belongings secure.
- Tipping is customary, but it’s up to you how much you want to give based on the quality of service provided.
