Belarus 3-Day Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Explore Minsk (Capital City)
Activities:
- Visit Independence Square (Prospekt Nezaležnasci) and the National Library of Belarus.
- Explore the Trinity Suburb (Troitskaya Sloboda), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its beautiful Baroque architecture.
- Take a stroll in the city park - Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure.
- Visit St. Simeon’s Cathedral and the Church of St. Peter and Paul.
- Spend your evening at the Minsk Arena, if there is an event happening (check the schedule beforehand).
Things to Know:
- Belarusian currency is Belarusian Ruble (BYN). Credit cards are accepted in most places, but it’s good to have some cash on hand.
- English is not widely spoken, so having a translation app or hiring a guide can be helpful.
- Public transportation in Minsk is efficient and affordable. Taxis are also readily available.
Visa Requirements:
Citizens of many countries need to obtain a visa before traveling to Belarus. However, the ‘5-day visa-free entry’ program allows citizens of 80 countries (including the United States and Europe) to enter Belarus without a visa for up to 5 days if they arrive by air and depart from Minsk National Airport.
Day 2: Mir Castle Complex and Nesvizh Castle
Activities:
- Morning visit to the Mir Castle Complex, a beautiful Renaissance-style castle with stunning architecture.
- Lunch in Mir town, known for its traditional Belarusian cuisine.
- Afternoon trip to Nesvizh Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s most significant examples of late Renaissance architecture.
- Visit the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Nesvizh.
Things to Know:
- Both Mir and Nesvizh are small towns with limited accommodation options, so it’s best to stay overnight in Minsk or a nearby town.
- The castles can get quite crowded during the day, aim to arrive early in the morning for a less busy visit.
Day 3: Brest and the Brest Hero Fortress
Activities:
- Visit the Brest Hero Fortress, a symbol of fortitude and one of the most important historical sites in Belarus.
- Walk along the Peace Bridge (mostly under the bridge is in Poland) and enjoy the scenic view.
- Spend time at Brest Regional Museum of Local Lore, which offers insight into the history of the region.
- Stroll around the beautiful city center of Brest.
Things to Know:
- Brest is located near the border with Poland and Ukraine, making it a great stop if you plan on visiting those countries as well.
- The ‘5-day visa-free entry’ program does not apply to land border crossings, so be sure to check your visa requirements for entering via land.
Transportation:
Traveling around Belarus is easy and efficient. You can use buses, trains, or hire cars. For longer distances, domestic flights are also available. The most convenient way to travel between Minsk and the attractions mentioned in this itinerary is by car or train.
