Three-Day Itinerary for Exploring Assisi

Day 1: Arrival and City Overview

  • Arrival: The closest airport is Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi Airport (PEG), but you can also consider Florence or Rome airports if direct flights are more convenient. Rent a car, hire a taxi or use the bus service to reach Assisi.

  • Check-in: Check into your hotel for the night. Some top choices include Hotel Giotto, Hotel Sole, and Palazzo Senoni.

  • Lunch (13:00 - 14:00): Have lunch at Trattoria Il Ritrovo, a traditional Umbrian restaurant with great local dishes.

  • Afternoon: Visit the Basilica of San Francesco (15:00 - 17:00), a stunning example of Gothic architecture with beautiful frescoes by Giotto. Nearby, explore the Santa Chiara complex and its beautiful gardens.

Day 2: Assisi Historic Sites

Day 3: Day Trip from Assisi

  • Afternoon (14:00 - 17:00): Spend your last hours in Assisi visiting any attractions you may have missed or revisiting your favorites. Take a leisurely walk around the town, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy the stunning views of Umbria.

  • Departure: Check out of your hotel and make your way back to the airport or continue onward with your Italian adventure!
