Activities: Visit the Cascade Complex, enjoy the panoramic view of Yerevan from its steps. Explore the Republic Square, Opera House, and National Gallery. Don’t forget to visit the iconic Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex.
Things to Know: Yerevan is the capital city of Armenia and it’s safe and easy to navigate. The official language is Armenian, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
Visa Requirements: Citizens from many countries can enter Armenia visa-free for up to 180 days within a 365-day period (as of 2022). Always check the latest requirements before travel.
Transportation: Yerevan has a well-developed public transportation system with buses and marshrutkas (minivans). Taxis are also readily available.
Day 2: Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery
Activities: Visit the ancient Greco-Roman Temple of Garni, explore the nearby Geghard Monastery carved out of a mountain. Enjoy the beautiful views and hiking opportunities.
Things to Know: These sites are located about an hour’s drive from Yerevan. It’s recommended to hire a car or join a tour group.
Day 3: Khor Virap and Noravank Monastery
Activities: Visit the monastery of Khor Virap, famous for its close proximity to Mount Ararat (when visible from clear weather). Continue to the stunning Noravank Monastery.
Things to Know: These sites are about 2 hours’ drive from Garni and Geghard. Again, hiring a car or joining a tour group is recommended.
Day 4: Lake Sevan and Dilijan National Park
Activities: Spend the day at beautiful Lake Sevan, visit the ancient Sevanavank Monastery. Continue to Dilijan National Park, known for its unique flora and fauna.
Things to Know: Dilijan is sometimes called the “Swiss of Armenia” due to its alpine landscape. It’s a great place for hiking and relaxation.
Day 5: Haghpat and Sanahin Monasteries
Activities: Visit the medieval UNESCO World Heritage sites of Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries, located near each other in the Lori region.
Things to Know: These sites are about a 2.5-hour drive from Dilijan. A car or tour group is recommended for travel.
Day 6: Tatev Monastery and Wings of Tatev
Activities: Visit the impressive Tatev Monastery, one of Armenia’s largest. Ride the Wings of Tatev, the longest reversible cableway in the world, to reach the monastery.
Things to Know: Tatev is located in the Syunik region, about a 3-hour drive from Haghpat and Sanahin. A car or tour group is recommended for travel.
Day 7: Free Day in Yerevan
Activities: Spend your last day in Armenia exploring any sights you may have missed in Yerevan, shopping for souvenirs, or relaxing at one of the city’s many cafes or parks.
Things to Know: If your flight is late in the day, consider visiting the Vernissage Market (open on weekends) for unique Armenian crafts and souvenirs.
