Day 1: Arrival and Settling In
- Arrive at either Andorra la Vella Airport or Lleida–Alguaire Airport, depending on your point of origin.
- Check into your accommodation in the capital city, Andorra la Vella.
- Familiarize yourself with the city center, visit Mercat de la Vall (the local market) and Casa de la Vall (town hall), which are both historical landmarks.
- Spend the evening exploring Calle Mayor, the city’s main street, filled with shops, restaurants, and cafes.
- Things to Know: Andorra uses the Euro as its currency, and the official languages are Catalan, Spanish, and French. English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
Day 2: Exploring Andorra la Vella and Surrounds
- Start your day with a visit to Sant Julià de Lòria, one of the seven parishes of Andorra, located just a short bus ride away.
- Visit the National Museum of Andorra (Museu Nacional d’Andorra) to learn about the country’s history and culture.
- Head to the Madriu-Perafita-Claravalls Natural Park for hiking and breathtaking views. Remember to pack suitable footwear!
- In the evening, return to Andorra la Vella and enjoy a meal at one of the city’s many restaurants offering local Andorran and international cuisine.
Day 3: Visit Ordino and Encamp
- Take a bus to the parish of Ordino and visit the beautiful Ordino-Arcalis ski resort, even if it’s not winter! The views from the top are stunning.
- Head to the picturesque village of La Cortinada for lunch. This is a great place to try traditional Andorran dishes like truita d’Andorra (a type of omelette) and fideua (similar to paella but with vermicelli noodles).
- In the afternoon, visit Encamp, the fifth largest town in Andorra. Check out the impressive artificial lake, Estany d’Engolasters, for a relaxing walk or boat ride.
Day 4: Adventure Day - Canillo and Soldeu
- Travel to the parish of Canillo and visit the Coma Pedrosa Natural Reserve. This area is perfect for hiking and birdwatching.
- Head to the Grandvalira ski resort in Soldeu for an afternoon of adventure. Whether you prefer winter sports or summer activities like mountain biking, there’s something for everyone!
- In the evening, return to your accommodation and rest up for tomorrow’s activities.
Day 5: Day Trip to France or Spain
- Take a day trip across the border to either France (Bagnères-de-Luchon) or Spain (Puigcerdà). Both offer beautiful landscapes, cultural experiences, and delicious food.
- Remember to check visa requirements if you’re not from the Schengen Area as some visitors may need a visa for short trips to France or Spain.
Day 6: Relaxation Day - Santa Coloma and Caldea
- Spend your penultimate day in Andorra at the thermal spa complex, Caldea, located in Escaldes-Engordany. This is a great way to relax after a week of exploring!
- Visit Santa Coloma, the second-largest town in Andorra, and explore the church of Santa Coloma and the nearby botanical garden.
- In the evening, return to your accommodation and pack for your departure tomorrow.
Day 7: Departure
- Check out from your accommodation and make your way to the airport. Remember to allow enough time for security checks and potential delays.
