7-Day Itinerary for Amritsar, India

Day 1: Arrival & Golden Temple

  • Arrival: Reach Amritsar by air or train. You can pre-book a taxi or use Ola/Uber for hassle-free transportation.

  • Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib): Visit this iconic Gurudwara in the evening to witness the ‘Aarti’ ceremony and experience the spirit of unity. Don’t forget to have ‘Karah Prasad’.

  • Accommodation: Stay at The Grand Bazaar, Park Plaza or Goindwal Palace for comfortable accommodation within city limits.

Day 2: Historical Sites & Jallianwala Bagh

  • Museums: Start with the Guru Nanak Museum and the Partition Museum to understand the history of Amritsar.

  • Lunch: Try traditional Punjabi dishes at Kesar Da Dhaba or Brother’s Dhaba.

  • Jallianwala Bagh & Wagah Border: In the afternoon, visit Jallianwala Bagh and later head to Wagah Border for the flag lowering ceremony (only on some days).

Day 3: Shopping & Local Markets

  • Local Markets: Visit the famous Hall Bazaar for shopping traditional Punjabi Phulkari, jewelry, and juttis. Don’t miss out on the food street nearby.

  • Dhabas: Have dinner at Bhai Peeu Ram Chulha Dhaba or Ahuja Dhaba.

Day 4: Explore Religious Sites

  • Tomb of Jaimal & Man ke Patshah: Visit these historical Mughal era tombs.

  • Durgiana Temple: This is one of the major Hindu temples in Amritsar.

  • Lunch: Try delicious Punjabi thalis at Bharawan Da Dhaba or Kulchian Wala.

Day 5: Day Trip to Wagah & Kiratpur Sahib

  • Wagah Border (Morning): Return to Wagah for the morning flag raising ceremony and explore nearby villages if time permits.

  • Kiratpur Sahib (Afternoon): Visit Anandpur Sahib and the holy town of Kiratpur Sahib, birthplace of Guru Har Gobind Sahib.

Day 6: Relax & Explore More

  • Leisurely Day: Spend the day as per your preference. You can relax at Cafe by The Lake or visit Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum.

  • Dinner: Have a fancy dinner at Taj Swarna or ITC Majestic, Amritsar.

Day 7: Departure
