Algeria 5-Day Travel Itinerary (Markdown Format)

Day 1: Arrival in Algiers & Exploring the City

  • Arrive at Houari Boumedienne International Airport, Algiers.
  • Check-in at a hotel and freshen up. Recommended areas: Downtown Algiers, El Harrach or Bab Ezzouar.
  • Visit the Notre Dame d’Afrique (African Notre-Dame), an iconic basilica with stunning city views.
  • Explore the Casbah of Algiers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and immerse yourself in the local culture.
  • Have dinner at one of the seafood restaurants along the Corniche Kalaa el-Djazair (Algiers Bay).

Day 2: Day Trip to Djemila & Tipasa

  • Depart early for a day trip to the Roman ruins of Djemila (Cuicul) and the coastal town of Tipaza.
  • Explore the well-preserved Roman ruins in Djemila, including the Capitoline Temple, the Basilica, and the Theatre.
  • Visit the Archaeological Museum to learn more about the site’s history.
  • After lunch, head to Tipasa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site with impressive Roman remains and a beautiful coastline.
  • Return to Algiers in the evening.

Day 3: Exploring Oran

Day 4: Day Trip to Timgad & Lambaesis

  • Depart early for a day trip to the Roman ruins of Timgad and Lambaesis.
  • Explore the well-preserved Roman city of Timgad, founded by Emperor Trajan.
  • Visit the Archaeological Museum in Lambaesis to learn more about the site’s history.
  • Return to Oran in the evening.

Day 5: Departure

  • Spend the morning at leisure, exploring more of Oran or visiting local markets for souvenirs.
  • Transfer to Houari Boumedienne International Airport, Algiers, for your departure flight.
