Aarhus 4 Day Itinerary (No Tourist Traps)

Day 1: ARoS and the Old Centre
Morning: ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum and Your Rainbow Panorama, the rooftop rainbow-glass skywalk included in your admission.
Afternoon: Aarhus Cathedral, free, Denmark’s longest and tallest church. Then the Latin Quarter’s oldest streets.
Evening: Dinner in the Latin Quarter, paid in DKK by card, not euros.
Day 2: Den Gamle By and the Grauballe Man
Morning: Den Gamle By’s roughly 75 real relocated buildings, go into the houses, not just past them.
Afternoon: Moesgaard Museum for the Grauballe Man, an Iron Age bog body with fingerprints still intact after more than 2,000 years.
Evening: Aarhus Ø waterfront, Dokk1 and the Isbjerget, free and good at sunset.
Day 3: Marselisborg and the Botanical Garden
Morning: Marselisborg’s park, deer park, and forest, free whenever the royal family isn’t in residence.
Afternoon: Marselisborg’s beach, then the free Botanical Garden next to Den Gamle By.
Evening: A relaxed dinner, the cheapest day of the city portion.
Day 4: Silkeborg and Himmelbjerget
Morning: Regional train to Silkeborg, roughly 45 minutes on a motorway-and-rail corridor completed in 2016. Silkeborg Museum holds the Tollund Man, another famous Iron Age bog body, alongside Museum Jorn’s COBRA-era art collection.
Afternoon: Himmelbjerget (“Sky Mountain”), honestly a hill at about 147m, not a mountain, Denmark’s true highest point runs to roughly 171m. The point is the historic paddle steamer Hjejlen, billed as the world’s oldest operating steamboat, ferrying visitors across the lakes to its base.
Evening: Back to Aarhus by regional train, a relaxed final dinner after a full day out.
